Dixit lecture will begin by retracing the historical accounts of human values given in the Western philosophical tradition. At the center of the discussion will be the concept of freedom. Via a genealogical survey of Yugoslavian construction techniques and an accidental mis-reading of Berlin’s concept of freedom, Dixit will illustrate Tito’s vision to employ architecture as infrastructure in pursuit of a freedom that differs from both the west and east, i.e. a ‘Third Way’.
