A 625sf pre-cast concrete cabin located on a 1200-acre cattle ranch in Texas Hill Country, 60-miles Northwest of Austin, Broken Box is conceived as a respite for two professors as a working studio and living space - a rural retreat from the urban sprawl of Austin and the last bastion from the inevitable urbanization of the Hill Country landscape. To satisfy conflicting desires, open v. private, rural v. urban, we have studied countless interpretations of the cube to achieve the multiplicity with one shape.
